What is Safe and Sound Schools?
Safe and Sound Schools is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities to improve school safety and security. The organization was founded in 2013 by Michele Gay and Alissa Parker, both of whom lost their daughters in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012.
Safe and Sound Schools works with schools, parents, and communities across the United States to create safer environments for students. The organization provides resources, tools, and training programs to help educators, administrators, and community members implement effective safety measures and develop emergency preparedness plans. They focus on a comprehensive approach to school safety, addressing areas such as physical security, mental health and wellness, crisis management, and communication.
